About the Sculptures collection

Handmade ceramic animals with a lot of personality! Every animal ornament here is handbuilt, most of them from lava flecked clay, then fired twice. Each one is one of a kind, so it can only go to one home.

Most of these are my bigger makes, with more clay and a lot more patience. I build a bit, wait for it to firm up, and build a bit more.

There's Hank, my Highland cow, who's a bit of a show off and spends hours on his hair. Rusty the fox has just been caught doing something he shouldn't. Nanook the polar bear has his shimmering catch in tow, a fish finished in mother of pearl lustre. Iggly Piggly the pig is always up to mischief, and Percy the penguin has just remembered something important but can't quite think what it was.

There are good doggos too, Scottie and Spike the dachshund, and more over in the Doggos. Cat people, the Meowingtons are waiting for you.

Hank and Rusty have already found their forever homes, but you can still say hello.

How big are your ceramic animals?

They're all different! Percy the penguin is about 8.5 cm tall, and Hank and Clarence the cat are about 19 cm. The bigger ones, like Nanook and Iggly Piggly, weigh over a kilo. Every animal has its measurements on its own page.

What are they made from?

Most are handbuilt from lava flecked clay and decorated with oxides, slips and glaze. Percy is white clay and Spike is white stoneware.

How do I look after one?

They're happy indoors or out in the garden. There's always a slight risk of the glaze cracking if it freezes, but they should be fine.

Will you make another one?

No, I couldn't make the same animal twice if I tried! New makes arrive in small drops, and the best place to see them taking shape is Instagram at @henroo_pottery.
